It’s been revealed that Blackburn MP Jack Straw spent almost £1,700 of taxpayers’ cash on official Christmas cards, last year.
The Justice Secretary told MPs in a written parliamentary answer that £1,695 was spent on 3,800 printed cards and 400 ecards which were sent on behalf of ministers, MoJ headquarters and the Office for the Public Guardian.
His profligacy has been slammed by various Blackburn residents who are up in arms about their money being frittered away when other options, such as free ecards at Ecards.co.uk, would have done the job.
“You do keep putting your foot in it don’t you, Jack” said a commenter on the local Blackburn news website, whilst another poster - named Darren - simply said: “What a bloody disgrace.”
